Celebrated Brilliance

Zoe Keating is Phenomenal.   I’ll say no more about it.  Listen.

Nothing brings me greater joy than a merger of my favorites. Nothing irks me more than being too caught up in whatever happens to be sitting right in front of me to take note of such mergers.  Wherever I was in late July when the stories of Aimee Bender and Etgar Keret (and the authors themselves) appeared together on the stage at Symphony Space, it definitely wasn’t worth the oversight.  All praise the internet for allowing me to right this wrong months later. Enjoy the strange world of these two contemporary authors.

To say I have a crush on Robert Krulwich is slightly inaccurate. As a correspondent on NPRs science desk, Robert weaves together narratives of the pointy-headed, dry and boring, clashing it with culture, producing awe inspiring prose.  Every time his stories end I find myself saying out loud: “I love that man.” It’s definitely not love in the purest sense of the word, but a deep, satisfying gratitude that he does what he does.  To say I have a crush on Jad Abumrad is spot on accurate.  It’s a silly school-girl sort of thing, I admit.  Needless to say their show Radio Lab brings me crazy, mad happiness.  Sigh.

McSweeney’s. Pure awesomeness. Run to it, don’t walk.  Read. Enjoy.  You’re welcome.
